Brass Rubbing Workshop
Duration: 1 hour
Cost: £40.00
Up to 15 people.

Join us for a hands-on introduction to the traditional art of brass rubbing in the historic setting of the Council Chamber at St Richard’s House. This engaging 1 hour workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone curious about this classic heritage craft.
During the session, participants will learn the basics of brass rubbing and how this technique has been used to reproduce decorative metal engravings found in churches and historic buildings. Our facilitator will guide you through the process step-by-step, from preparing your paper to applying the crayon to reveal the intricate details of the design.
We provide a selection of brass rubbing plates inspired by historical figures, along with a variety of crayons and all the materials needed to create your own rubbing. Participants are encouraged to experiment with different plates and colours to produce a unique piece to take home.
By the end of the workshop, you will have created your own brass rubbing artwork and gained an appreciation for this traditional craft. No prior experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided.
